United States - February 10th, 2006: The most debated surgery procedure today in the United States is a clean cut one, known as circumcision. What people say is that it has nothing to do with medicine, psychology, religion and sex.
Some people claim that this operation is an extremely painful experience, medically unnecessary and nothing more than mutilation. By the contrary, other people claim that being circumcised is a very simple surgery and it prevents from like AIDS, cervical cancer, urinary tract infection and other diseases.
The spokesman for the International Coalition for Genital Integrity, Dan Bollinger, affirms that “there is no reason to put a child trough that kind of experience” and claims that this surgery is a “human’s rights violation”.
It seems that circumcision is more related to family culture. Fathers want their sons to look like them. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics announced that circumcision is not that significant - medically saying – to be recommended as a routine procedure.
