United States - January 22th, 2008: An interesting research has just confirmed the obvious. Masturbation is not as good as sex. What basically anyone who had sex at some point of their lives (and even some who never did) is able to say now acquires the state of scientific truth.
However, not only sex is much more pleasurable than masturbation, but also causes deeper effects on one’s body. From psychological effects to hormonal releases, sex has a considerably bigger impact in our organism.
In fact, one factor seems to be crucial for such a difference. The levels of hormone prolactin released during partner sex are absurdly higher than during masturbation. This hormone is responsible for the sensation of satisfaction and joyfulness that usually follows sex. It’s also responsible for counterbalancing dopamine, the hormone responsible for sexual arousal and excitement. This also explains why the refractory period both man and woman face prior to engage in a new activity (whether masturbation or sex) is also longer after sex.
